Logo Design: SHVIP Logo

This logo was fun to work with. The client came with the idea and we worked it out until it came out to this. I realized I was making a lot of simple mistakes throughout this process, which I usually don't do. Like using to many colors for the mark. It made me realize that I really need to focus on the little details and that using a checklist would help out a lot.

Logo Design (10.13.09)

I've been watching poker ever since the boom with Chris Moneymaker a few years ago like everyone else. But just recently, I've noticed that the most notable players have been doing more to brand themselves. One in particular is Phil Hellmuth who has his own monogram. so just for fun I decided to see if I could come up with a poker related logo for Phil as well. Doing some sketches I came up with the above idea. I fleshed it out and it was at this point that I realized that my lowercase ph came out to look more like qh. This was a real let down since I thought I came up with an interesting idea. I guess it's a good thing it was just for fun, I'm not sure an actual client would have liked that sort of mistake.

Graphic Design

This assignment dealt with a legal flyer. I made everything up fairly quickly; from the monogram to top banner graphic. The blank area had advertisement type. Since it was for a class, I made it without bleed to be printed from any regular printer. It was never printed though.

Logo Design (09.09)

I was thinking up a logo for a company I visited. It wasn't a job but just something I wanted to do for fun. I came up with the logo and business card design. I learned to start doing the design in black and white first to see how it related in other medias.

I learned that I should have done more drawings before I came to the final version. I still liked what I came up with, but after drawing another 20 designs, I saw a lot of new directions I could have taken it. Also, since I had been just doodling some business card layouts, it made coming up with this layout a lot faster.

I'm trying to use Adobe Contribute to write this post but for some reason the program makes it a little more difficult. For example, it makes it really hard to add images. I thought I could just drag and drop from bridge, and it worked for one file, but the other jpgs weren't recognized. I wonder what I did wrong. I'll also be posting older work I was doing earlier this year. It wasn't much though.

Test

Test Test. I'm trying some new blog features that I have to see how useful they are, plus I like playing around with new programs in general.

Below is a simple flash character I'm going to be playing around with and animating. I made symbols out of the mouth, eyes, nose, and head. The project seems fun.

Other than that I haven't really been drawing as much as i'd like. Only random sketches here and there. Hopefully I can make an actual schedule to spend some time drawing. Maybe when summer starts. later this month.

Flash Cart Animation

I'm learning flash so here's a simple cart animation I did. I couldn't find a good squeaky wheel sound loop. If anyone has any ideas where to find a free sound site, please let me know. Overall I liked how it came out. It's a little clunky after I rendered it though. Flash is getting pretty fun now that I'm actually dedicating some time to learn it.
